He said the DOE "urges everyone to have a new outlook for energy efficiency" this 2019.

Saving Tips

The energy department gave saving tips to consumers.

Drivers are advised to save fuel by driving at a steady speed.

"By reducing speed from 120 to 80 kph, tests conducted with popular cars indicated a 25% improvement in fuel economy," the DOE noted in a statement.

They are also advised to save fuel by anticipating stops. Tests prove that vehicles driven at 60 kph can travel a distance of 650 meters with gradual halts do not consume additional fuel.

Saving fuel can also be done by minimizing vehicle load.

Transporting unnecessary weight in your car results in an additional 10% fuel consumption.

The DOE also urged car owners to save fuel by planning their trips, avoiding peak hours and busy roads

"As much as possible, plan one big errand trip for your entire family," the agency said.
