DTI opens OTOP hubs in Bohol and Siquijor

CEBU, Philippines — The Department of Trade and Industry recently announced that it has put up One Town, One Product (OTOP) hubs in Bohol and Siquijor to help market the products of micro and small entrepreneurs.

The OTOP store in Bohol was launched yesterday in Tagbilaran City Island City Mall and the Siquijor OTOP hub will be launched at the Pasalubong Center, Campalanas, Lazi on October 29.

The OTOP hubs are stores where micro and small enterprises (MSE) can display their products that have been given assistance by DTI.

Alturas Supermarket Corp. will operate the Bohol OTOP center while the Siquijor OTOP hub will be operated by Balete Bazaar.

The trade agency has established OTOP hubs in various areas in the country to provide MSEs the physical and online channels and market access platform where OTOP products are showcased on a daily basis.

It was last year when DTI launched the OTOP Next Gen in Central Visayas where about 100 local producers from Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental and Siquijor were assessed by the agency.

It had sought to scale up micro, small and medium enterprises in terms of branding and marketing.

The program also seeks to improve the competitiveness of the local products identified in the program.

It specifically gives emphasis to product development, branding of these products and how well these can be presented to the consumers.
