Ayala properties join Earth Hour switch-off

CEBU, Philippines - Premier developer Cebu Holdings Inc. (CHI) and subsidiary Cebu Property Ventures and Development Corporation (CPVDC) join the rest of the global community in the observance of Earth Hour on Saturday, March 29.

The companies own and operate Cebu Park District which refers to two major business and commercial hubs in the city – Cebu Business Park and Cebu I.T. Park.

For the hour-long switch-off of selected lighting and electrical equipment, an estimated 6,906.77 kilowatt hour will be saved. This is inclusive of Cebu Business Park, Cebu I.T. Park including Ayala Center Cebu, Cebu Holdings Center, Ayala Life FGU Center, City Sports Club Cebu, Park Towers 1 & 2, Amara, Garden Ridge Village, eOffice, The Walk and eBloc 1 and 2.

This translates to an estimated equivalent CO2 emission reduction of 22,387.67 kilograms.

At Ayala Center Cebu, various activities are also being held to increase awareness among shoppers on this fight against global warming.  Kids can watch the cosplay show and join the graffiti writing from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The drawing with the best quote and design will be awarded with a gift pack.

Merchants are encouraged to participate in the switch-off and dining outlets are encouraged to use alternative lights during the switch-off.

The countdown to “Switch-Off” will be initiated at The Terraces to signify the start of the Earth Hour and will feature Aria—University of Cebu Dance Company, University of Cebu Chorale, Poi Galore, Body Bioluminiscene Collection of Barbie Alvez and Naga City’s Dagitab Festival.

It will be followed by an after dark music show dubbed Folk for the Earth featuring local bands Mother Folker, Wonggoys, Ella Mendez and Womb.

The active participation and promotion of the Earth Hour campaign is part of CHI and CPVDC’s continued commitment to sustainability. (FREEMAN)
