DAGUPAN CITY , Philippines   – This city’s mayor, Belen Fernandez, led awardees of the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) in its nationwide search for the most outstanding partners and advocates in the all-out campaign against illegal drugs, during the agency’s recognition rites in Quezon City last Friday. 

Secretary Antonio Villar Jr., DDB chairman, said Fernandez is the lone mayor in the country cited for her consistent pro-active, anti-drug abuse programs.

Fernandez’s programs include the “Barkada Kontra Droga” symposia in different schools, the Walk Against Drugs participated in by about 8,000 students from public and private schools along with their teachers and principals; activities that engage the youth to be more productive like sports, skills and talent enhancement; and other education-related projects.
