Blazers out to regain winning ways

MANILA, Philippines — St. Benilde tries to reclaim the solo lead even as Jose Rizal University seeks to extend its win streak when they collide today in the 98th NCAA basketball tournament at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.

The Blazers will go all out for a bounce-back win after falling to three-peat-seeking Letran Knights, 81-75, last Friday for the former’s first defeat of the season after three wins.

From the solo lead, CSB now shares it with Lyceum of the Philippines U.

The Blazers though could regain the top spot with a triumph over the Bombers.

But they will have their hands full against the Bombers, who defeated the Arellano U Chiefs, 70-67, last Wednesday to join a four-way logjam at fifth with 2-2 records.

Game time is at 12 noon.

CSB might also play without scoring dynamo Miguel Oczon for the second game in a row due to health reasons.

This leaves the scoring load on the indefatigable front court duo of Will Gozum and Miguel Cortez, who bulldozed their way to 23 and 18 points, respectively, in their last game.
