MANILA, Philippines – Gilas Pilipinas couldn't get it done in their first taste of action in the King's Cup set in Jordan, falling to Egypt 60-73 on Monday.

A dismal showing from beyond the arc where they only shot four of 27 attempts — just 14% — doomed the Nationals.

It was a close affair after the opening quarter when Egypt was only up by a point, 13-12.

But a second period where they were outscored by eight, 20-12, proved to be enough breathing room for Egypt to come away with the win.

Ange Kouame finished with a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds while Isaac Go provided spark off of the bench with 13 markers.

Thirdy Ravena, who made his return to the Gilas fold just recently, had eight points.

The Egyptians were led by Amro Mohammad Abd Alhalem and Omar Saeed Arabei who tallied 14 and 11 points, respectively.

Gilas will try to rebound when they take on Saudi Arabia tomorrow.
