MANILA, Philippines — Yuka Saso finished joint fifth while fellow Tokyo Olympics-bound Bianca Pagdanganan wound up tied for 50th in the rain-shortened Marathon LPGA Classic yesterday in Sylvania, Ohio.

Saso was aiming for a strong windup coming off an eagle-spiked seven-under par 64 in the third round but didn’t get the chance and settled for a Top 5 finish worth $63,817 (P3.2 million).

The reigning US Women’s Open champion pooled together 11-under 202 in the $2-million event, where she rose from 65th to 28th  and then to fifth  heading into the final 18 holes.

Pagdanganan ended at three-under 210 for a share of No. 50 with nine others and netted $6,082 (P305,000).

Japan’s Nasa Hataoka, who held a six-stroke lead after three rounds, won with a 19-under 194 card.
