MANILA, Philippines — Former two-division champion Danny Garcia recently gave his two cents on the upcoming bout between Sen. Manny Pacquiao and Errol Spence Jr.
Speaking to Fight Hype, Garcia — who was Spence's last opponent — said that he doesn't see the fight going the full 12 rounds.
Though Pacquiao is pegged as an underdog against the younger Spence, Garcia thinks it can go either way.
"I think you can stop Pacquiao with a body shot but I think Pacquiao can stop [Spence] too," he said.
"I think it's a 50/50 fight... I think that fight's not gonna go the distance," he added.
Garcia's fight with Spence was the first bout for the latter after figuring in a car accident in October 2019.
Spence won the fight via unanimous decision to retain his IBF and WBC belts against the former champion.
The Philadelphia native regarded Spence as one of the strongest boxers he faced in his career.
"He's the strongest fighter I fought, physically you feel him in front of you," said Garcia.
However, the 33-year-old thinks Pacquiao can still get the upper hand -- especially if the Filipino can come with the brand of boxing he brought against Keith Thurman back in July 2019.
"If the Pacman who showed up against Keith Thurman fights then that's a dangerous Pacquiao," said Garcia.
But if Spence can come out with the aggressiveness he did against Kell Brook in 2017, the American would probably have the advantage according to Garcia.
"The Spence who fought Kell Brook can stop Pacquiao," he said.
Pacquiao-Spence is penciled in for August 21 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas (August 22, Manila time).
