MANILA, Philippines — The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas launches tonight an online talk series dubbed “Women in Charge” featuring stories of Filipina ballers on and off the court.

The show, which is part of SBP’s long-term program to champion Philippine hoops as a whole, will showcase the finest cagebelles from all ranks to serve as inspiration to young aspirants dreaming to follow their steps someday.

“Women in Charge” starts its pilot episode tonight at 8 p.m. with former UP and Gilas Pilipipinas women’s standout Bea Daez-Fabros as host.

Under the watch of program director and head coach Pat Aquino, Gilas women’s saw a steady rise in international basketball over the years highlighted by a twin-gold medal haul in the 3x3 and 5-on-5 events of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.

The Nationals also bagged a bronze in the 2019 FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup on top of maintaining elite Division A status in the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup and putting up gallant stands in the FIBA Pre-OQT and Women’s Jones Cup.

Jack Animam, one of the Gilas leaders, also blazed her own path overseas by helping Shih Hsin University complete an unbeaten championship run in Taiwan’s University Basketball Association.
