ABAP mourns loss of boxer

MANILA, Philippines — The Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines (ABAP) is mourning the passing of former national team member Alexcel Dargantes last Saturday in Baguio City.

Details on the death of Dargantes, a General Santos native who suited up for the Nationals from 2013 to 2017, were not disclosed. She was 24.

ABAP president Ricky Vargas expressed sorrow over Dargantes’ death and said the association will take care of all the arrangements, including bringing the boxer’s remains from Baguio, where she had resided, to her hometown.

ABAP secretary-general Ed Picson is requesting for prayers and privacy on behalf of the Dargantes family.
