Young Pinoy golfers get chance to dream big

MANILA, Philippines – The country’s finest young golfers will see action in the Golf Challenger Series Manila Qualifier for a chance to advance to the prestigious Future Champions Golf (FCG) Callaway World Championships set next year in California.

Organized by the DreamBig Events in partnership with the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines (JGFP), the event offers five slots in each age bracket on Dec. 16-17 at the Orchard Golf and Country Club in Cavite. It is open to Filipino golfers aged 12 to 18 years.

Aside from the right to represent the country in the FCG, which is expected to gather around 500 young golfers from around the world, the Filipino winners will get a personalized report from US NCAA Division I coaches, who will hold an exclusive golf training camp after the tournament.

Coaches Richard Mueller from Columbia University, Andre Larkin of University of California-Los Angeles and Chris Massoletti from University of California-Berkeley are just some of the top-notch mentors overseeing the camp and the tournament proper.

“Bringing top-tier coaches in Asia especially in the Philippines is exciting for me. It’s the first time in Philippine history and the presence of these coaches will surely give student-athletes aspirations,” said Akshay Maliwal, founder and CEO of DreamBig Events.

Around 40-60 aspiring golfers from the all over the country will participate in the prestigious golf camp and tournament in a bid to follow the footsteps of Filipino athletes already making waves in US NCAA like Stefan Lhuiller (Tufts University), Nik Gatmayan (De Paul University), Jerome Romualdez (University of Virginia) and Tomi Arejola (Starlight Dickinson University) after going through a series of camps organized by DreamBig Events.
