MANILA, Philippines – The Petro Gazz Angels earned their first win in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference after making quick work of the BaliPure Water Defenders, 25-22, 25-18, 25-16, at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan City on Sunday.

The Reinforced Conference champions bounced back after losing their tournament opener against BanKo Perlas in four sets.

The Water Defenders had a strong start in the third set and looked to force an extension. But a 7-1 run from the Petro Gazz side quickly extinguished BaliPure's hopes.

With Jeanette Panaga and Paneng Mercado at the helm, the Angels were able to dispose of the Water Defenders.

Grace Bombita and Shirley Salamagos paced BaliPure in the losing effort.

Petro Gazz improves to a 1-1 win-loss record while BaliPure continues to search for its first win this season.
