F2 Logistics, Petron tackle cellar dwellers

MANILA, Philippines — Opposites collide as league leaders F2 Logistics and Petron seek to keep their respective one-two spots against cellar-dwellers Sta. Lucia and Marinerang Pilipina in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference today at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo City.

After surviving the biggest challenge to their unbeaten start so far against Generika-Ayala last Saturday, the Cargo Movers eye to get back on their dominant winning ways when they battle the winless Lady Skippers in the main game at 7p.m.

Reigning champion Blaze Spikers, on the other hand, look to stretch their red-hot streak to eight games when they duel against the rejuvenated Lady Realtors in the first game at 4:15 p.m.

Led by Fil-Am sensation Kalei Mau, F2 found no problem bagging nine easy wins in this tournament so far that included seven three-set victories.

But the Cargo Movers encountered heavy resistance against the Lifesavers as they were dragged into a deciding fifth set for only the first time this conference before eking out a gritty 25-19, 25-27, 25-22, 18-25, 15-13 win to extend its perfect start to 10 games.

That, alone, should serve as a wake-up call for the complacent F2 according to head coach Ramil De Jesus.
