Myla Pablo still weighing options

MANILA, Philippines – Myla Pablo is still taking her sweet time before formally signing a new contract.

Patrick Aquino, her business manager, revealed that all of their options remain open as additional teams are joining the race to secure her services for the 2019 season.

Aquino said Foton showed serious interest as it already reached out to her former company, Federal Distributors, Inc. (FDI), and offered to assume the remaining years of her original five-year contract while Cocolife and Sta. Lucia also sent feelers that they want to have her for the brand-new season of the Philippine Superliga.

BanKo Perlas and PetroGazz are also in the hunt as well as Cignal and F2 Logistics.

Aquino said they are carefully weighing down all of their options and listening to the offers from various clubs.

“This could be her last contract and we want to come up with the best decision,” said Aquino, the former University of the Philippines star and head coach of powerhouse National University women’s basketball team who also happens to be Pablo’s boyfriend.

“We’re not in a hurry. We still have almost a month left to decide which team perfectly suits her so we’re carefully listening to all offers.”

In a previous statement, Pablo said landing a hefty contract is not her objective.

She said she wants to sign with a team that can give her an identity and direction that would lead to another title.

Aquino strongly agreed.

“As I’ve said, this could be Myla’s final contract,” said Aquino, adding that they are just waiting for the bosses of Pocari Sweat to arrive from Japan so they can sit down and discuss their plans for the hard-hitting spiker from Tarlac.

“We’re not after having a lucrative contract. All we want is for her to sign up with a team that can give her the identity, the character and direction that could lead to another title.”

“Myla is a winner. She wants to compete at a high level for a team that can set a good direction and fully utilize her.”
