PBA leadership issue imperils Cignal stint in DL

MANILA, Philippines — The PBA leadership impasse has spilled into the PBA developmental league, the D-League.

Cignal HD, a team belonging to the PLDT/MVP Group, is still undecided in its participation in the coming D-League tourney due to the unresolved conflict in the PBA board.

“We don’t know yet because according to the Cignal bosses, they have not made a decision due to the PBA impasse,” said team manager Jude Roque.

Roque said the team, composed mostly of players from recently crowned NCAA champion San Beda, would have joined considering that their NCAA rivals – runner-up Lyceum, Jose Rizal, St. Benilde and Perpetual Help – are all playing.

“We really want to join,” said Roque.

With the possibility of missing the D-League, Cignal coach Boyet Fernandez said they will focus on his San Beda players’ academics.
