Kaya, Agila FC rule youth football league

MANILA, Philippines - Kaya FC lorded it over the Under-19 competition while MSA Agila FC reigned in two divisions to complete the winners’ roster in the first season of the Youth Football League over the weekend.

The Kaya U19 booters lived up to their top billing and drubbed No. 2 Mendiola FC, 5-1, to complete the title run via sweep.

This was Kaya’s fourth crown overall after capturing the U17, U7 and U9 Cups disputed the previous weekend.

MSA Agila stamped its class in the U15 and U11 competitions to complement the U13 Cup it earlier won in the club-based youth tournament formed by Football Alliance to replace the United Football League’s Youth League.

Agila’s U15 stalwarts upended top seed Loyola Meralco Sparks, 3-1, while their bets in the U11 tripped Kaya, 5-1, to crown themselves champions.

Season 2 of the YFL, meanwhile, will blast off in September, according to YFL Association Inc. president Mike Atayde.
