(UPDATED 7:00 p.m.) MANILA, Philippines – Rhose Montreal, the controversial marketing chief of the Philippine Basketball Association, is no longer part of the local pro league.

Montreal has vacated her post as the PBA board of governors has decided not to extend her tenure.

In a statement, PBA commissioner Chito Narvasa said Montreal has decided to "pursue other interests."

"She expressed her desire to pursue other interests which the PBA agreed to. The PBA wishes to thank her for her contributions and wishes her well in her new undertakings," said Narvasa.

Last March, the league drew criticisms from not a few in rehiring Montreal even as she admitted to submitting spurious documents when she applied for the position.

Montreal’s reapplication was accepted on certain conditions, including forfeiture of all her previous benefits and her reacceptance on a probationary period of six months.
