Ang, Cabrera move closer to karter-of-year-plums

MANILA, Philippines - Jacob Ang of Eagle Cement and DC karter Gabe Tayao-Cabrera pulled off separate sweeps that fortified their quests for the overall crown in their respective divisions recently in the 2015 Petron Blaze 100 ROK Karting Super Series at the Clark International Speedway.

Following their victories, Ang and Cabrera now moved closer to the Junior Karter of the Year and the Karter of the Year plums, respectively, in this event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines and sponsored by Petron, Petron Blaze 100 Euro 4, Petron XCS, Petron Ultron, Petron Xtra, Petron Sprint, Magnolia Pure Water and Yokohama, the official tires.

Ang ruled the qualifying, pre-final and final heats to emerge the KF Junior Blaze 100 champion over Sean Draeco McLelland, Mikey Jordan, Larco Cortez and Tai Zulberti.

Cabrera struggled hard against former champion Vencer John Suba but his efforts pulled through to forge his own sweep in the ROK Shifter Senior Max Diesel class.

Even more impressive was the big upset by Jarred Kim over perennial champion Eduardo Coseteng Jr. in the Mini-ROK XCS division. 

Kim surprised the crowd as he engaged Coseteng Jr. in a neck-and-neck battle where he quickly regained the lead and took the checquered flag by just 0.074 of a second over Coseteng Jr,

Rap Rap  Gutierrez took third place while Zach David of Formula-E Racing and Constantin Reisch wound up fourth and fifth, respectively.

Zulberti bagged the top honors in the Formula SL Novice Xtra over Denise and Danielle Pineda while Ben Stone emerged champion in the ROK Novice Blaze 100 over Larry Cortez and Jean Marc Freihuber.
