Hope, PACE remain unbeaten in FCAAF

MANILA, Philippines - Hope Christian High School won twice over the weekend while PACE Academy picked up its fifth straight win as they remained on top of their respective divisions in the 26th Filipino-Chinese Amateur Athletic Federation (FCAAF) Basketball Championships at the Chiang Kai Shek College gym in Manila.

Hope Christian downed St. Stephen’s High School, 65-40, for its fifth win last Saturday before drubbing Philippine Cultural College (2-3), 73-47, in the premier Division I of the tournament presented by Molten.

Reigning champion Chiang Kai Shek College blasted Manila Patriotic School, 70-43, to clinch the second semis slot with a 5-1 card while Saint Jude Catholic School improved to 3-2 by whipping Philippine Chung Hwa, 85-55.

PACE, on the other hand, clobbered Philippine Chen Kuang High School, 71-46, to likewise secure a semis berth in Division B-1.

Also in contention for semis berths are Paco Citizen Academy Foundation and Northern Rizal Yorklin School, which beat Philadelphia High School (79-41) and Grace Christian College (63-61), to improve to 4-1 and 3-2, respectively.

MGC New Life Christian Academy routed Philippine Sun Yat Sen High School (67-46) last Saturday before defeating Uno High School, 54-41, the following day to cruise into the semis of the seven-team Division B-2 with a 5-0 mark.

PSYSHS recovered from its loss to MGC-NLA with an 84-47 romp over Phil. Institute of Quezon City to roll into the semis along with St. Mary’s Angels College of Valenzuela, which smothered Makati Christian HC, 61-46. Both PSYSHS and SMACV have similar 4-1 marks.

St. Stephen’s claimed its fifth straight win in the boys developmental division with a 54-41 win over St. Jude last Saturday while CKSC tied MGC-NLA at 5-1 with 49-41 victory St. Jude last Sunday. St. Jude dropped to 4-2.
