Resultay heroics lift Perlas Pilipinas to 1st win in FIBA Asia joust

MANILA, Philippines -- Spitfire guard Andy Resultay came up big down the stretch to lead Perlas Pilipinas to a thrilling 68-67 win over North Korea Sunday in the 2015 FIBA Asia Women's Championship in Wuhan, China.

Resultay scored Perlas Pilipinas' final six points as the Filipinas rebounded from an 64-71 opening-day loss to Malaysia.

Trailing, 62-65, with under a minute left, Resultay scored on consecutive three-point plays in a span of 14 seconds to pull the rug from under the North Koreans.

Resultay, a Philippine Army reserve, and Allana Lim topscored Perlas Pilipinas, who now sport a 1-1 win-loss record, with 14 points apiece.

North Korea had a chance to salvage the victory but Mi Gyo Jang could only make two of her last four free throw attempts hastening the loss.

Perlas Pilipinas is expected to notch its second straight win when it goes up against Sri Lanka next on Monday.
