Pupos, three others reign in DPS Pamaskong Handog swim meet

MANILA, Philippines - Martin Jacob Pupos, Chloe Fabic, Sean Terence Zamora and Kyla Soguilon claimed the Elite Category (Class A-B) Most Outstanding Swimmer (MOS) awards in their respective age groups yesterday in the 71st Philippine Swimming League (PSL) leg series dubbed Pamaskong Handog at the Diliman Preparatory School in Quezon City.

Pupos, a standout of University of Perpetual Help System Dalta, was the runaway winner in the boys’ 16 years with 50 points while Fabic, who studies at St. Theresa’s College, also earned 50 points to dominate the girls’ 11 years category.

Zamora, a Grade 9 student at University of Santo Tomas Pay High School, topped the boys’ 14 years with 50 points highlighted by his record-breaking feats in three events.

Soguilon of Sun Yat Sen School-Aklan amassed 50 points with three new records in the girls’ 10 years.

“We gave 1,359 medals and 72 individual trophies for three level categories for most outstanding swimmers in this edition alone,” said PSL president Susan Papa.

The other MOS awardees in the girls’ division were Micaela Jasmine Mojdeh (8 years), Aubrey Tom (9), Emannuelle Joves (11), Jesreel Francisco (12), Kara Thereze Colaste (13), Ma. Angela Paula Villamil (14), Leichelle Buenaventura and Gianna Data (15), Andrea Jheremy Pacheco and Renee Gatchalian (16), Danalyn Parco and Julian Ingrid Pupos (17), and Rhea Llantino (18-over).

Sharing the spotlight in the boys’ category were Marc Bryan Dula (7), Lee Grant Cabral (8), Andreu Valencia (9), John Gabriel Bucad (10), Charles Emmanuel Ticbaen (11), Ferdinand Ian Trinidad (12), Daryl James Concepcion and Jerard Dominic Jacinto (13), Sean Elijah Enero (15), Sean Kenrick Manicad (17), and Samuel Gregory Ongjoco (18-over),

“We are looking forward to a more exciting and productive year in 2015. We want to bring our program to the next level as almost every swimmer keeps on improving from time to time,” said Papa.
