Tri United puts accent on speed

MANILA, Philippines - The highly successful 2014 Tri United series shifts to high-speed racing with varying sprint distance races all set to commence in Tri United 4 slated Nov. 23 at the Fontana Leisure Park in Clark, Pampanga.

Organized by Bike King and presented by Unilab Active Health (ULAH), the event will be composed of a 600 meter swim – 30 kilometer bike – 5k run for sprint distance participants that include age-groupers (15-years-old and older) and team relay.

On tap for triathletes aged 13 to 14 years old is  a shorter sprint distance course of 300m swim – 15k bike – 2.5k run.

The event’s team competition is patterned after the ITU’s mixed relay event which involves four members per team (at least one female member). Each of the four members will swim 300 meters, bike 15 km and run 2.5 km. A total of 10 triathlon clubs have signed up for the race along with two elite teams from Unilab Active Health that will perform an exhibition.

Awaiting the Top 3 male and female winners in the event supported by Unilab Active Health, Aboitiz, Fontana, Active Health Sports Gel, Enervon ACTIV, Enervon HP, Oral Rehydration Salts, Weather Philippines, Aboitiz Power, Timex, Saucony, Orbea, Crystal Clear, Pocari Sweat, Shimano, Maxxis, OtterBox, Men’s Health and Women’s Health are specially designed medals and gift packs.

Since the end of registration, the event attracted close to 650 participants as well as 21 teams in the relay competition.
