Koncz doing fine after mild stroke

Michael Koncz

MANILA, Philippines - Manny Pacquiao’s adviser/manager Michael Koncz suffered a mild heart attack and was hospitalized last Tuesday in Macau, reported Yahoo! Sports’ Kevin Iole.

The veteran boxing/MMA scribe got the confirmation of Koncz’ medical condition from Pacquiao’s publicist Fred Sternburg. He also quoted Koncz’ assistant Stephanie Domingo as saying the Canadian was “resting comfortably” at press time.

“Koncz was in the gym walking around talking with people as Pacquiao worked out. He looked as if he didn’t feel well, but he did not appear to be in significant distress,” Iole wrote in his report yesterday.

Team Pacquiao’s Sean Gibbons said they are hopeful Koncz would be released soon, the report added.

Koncz was taken to the hospital for the second time in this trip to the gaming capital in line with Pacquiao’s Nov. 24 fight with Brandon Rios. He was also hospitalized last Sunday for a mild case of Bell’s Palsy.
