NU cops first-ever UAAP cheerdance crown

MANILA, Philippines – National University emerged as champions for the first time in its history of competing in the UAAP Cheerdance Competition at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City Sunday.

The NU Pep Squad blazed through their routine with a “Sahara” theme to take home the title with a score of 695.5. The victory also came with a cool P340,000 cash prize.

Three-time defending champion UP was dethroned and settled for a first runner-up finish with their “Party” theme. The perennial powerhouse squad finished with a score of 620.15 to take home a P200,000 cash prize.

De La Salle University, with their “Army” theme, settled for the second runner-up and pocketed a P140,000 cash prize.

A total of 20,830 fans trooped to the venue to witness Sunday’s competition.

In the Group Stunt competition, NU also took home the championship while FEU and UST ended up second and third, respectively.

La Salle’s Ana De Leon was named Samsung Stunner of the Year winner.
