Semis foes Yap, Abueva team up for All Star game

DIGOS, Davao del Sur -- San Mig Coffee superstar James Yap called for ceasefire as he and Alaska rookie Calvin Abueva will have to cross path sooner than Game 3 of their heated semifinal showdown.

Yap and Abueva, who are embroiled in a word war following their highly-physical Game 2 encounter, will play side by side when the PBA All Stars test the Gilas Pilipinas national team Sunday here. (read related story: Word War: Yap, Abueva trade barbs after heated Game 2)

Yap, who did not hide his dislike on the way Abueva defended him in Game 2, is willing to set aside whatever differences they have had for the sake of the fans.

"Nandito ako at si Calvin dahil sa mga fans.  Nandito kami para pasayahin sila," Yap told Philstar.com. "Wala muna yun, siyempre hindi naman ito semis."

Abueva earned the ire of Yap last Monday night when the latter accused the former of too much flopping and hitting his injured back.

They will go back to being hardcourt rivals once again when their semifinal series resumes on Wednesday.
