Chua-Ong bags gold in PBC open doubles

MANILA, Philippines - National bowlers Kenneth Chua and Frederick Ong combined for 981 pinfalls to spark a 1-2-3 Philippine team finish in the Class O men’s doubles event of the 41st PBC-PSC-POC Open championships Friday at the SM lanes in Mall of Asia.

Chua carded 514 on a couple of 257 games while Ong tallied 467 (192-275) to pull away from Kenneth Piedad and Jeremy Posadas (863) and Jong Enriquez and Posadas (859).

PBAP-Bowlmart’s Mades Arles and Lara Posadas scored 871 to top the ladies’ Class O doubles competition, beating TBAM-Prima-PH’s Madeline Llamas and Alexis Sy (849) and Llamas and Rachelle Leon (645).

TBAM-Prima’s Richie Poblete, Jonas Baltasar and Enzo Hernandez and the Philippine team’s Liza del Rosario, Krizziah Tabora and Rachelle Leon emerged victorious in the Class O men’s and ladies’ trios event, respectively.

Poblete (470), Baltasar (479) and Hernandez (464) collected 1413 to whip TBAM-Prima’s Mar Serac, Anton Alcazaren and Mike Crisol (1311) and the PH team of Jeremy Posadas, Carlo Mansilungan and Jong Enriquez (1297) while Del Rosario (451), Tabora (446) and Leon (415) submitted 1312 to topple PBAP-Bowlmart’s Jai Ramirez, Trixie de Luna and Mades Arles (1230) and Liza Clutario, Tabora and Del Rosario (1202).

National campaigners Chua and Del Rosario also stole the show in Class O singles with Chua scoring 1497 and Del Rosario rolling 1342 in the men’s and ladies’ divisions, respectively.

The two-week kegfest sponsored by PSC, POC, Boysen, PCSO, Team Prima, F.R. Sevilla Construction, HCG and Enervon will end today with the staging of several Masters finals, including the Open Masters event for men and ladies.

Enriquez, one of the veteran members of the Phl team, and Mades Arles topped the Class O men’s and ladies’ all-events tilt with 2135 and 2146, respectively.

Other all-event winners were Kevin Cu (2077) and Lynn Tan (1956) in Class A and Nilo Penado (1937) and Nida Lagrisola (1797) in Class B.
