Informatics, TIP score in Martin Cup Division 2

MANILA, Philippines - Informatics and Technological Institute of the Philippines trounced their respective rivals to gain in the 10th Fr. Martin Division 2 Cup basketball tournament over the weekend.

The Icons banked on the big games of Japs Bautista, Mark Doligon and Montuano as they waylaid the University of Perpetual Help Altas, 82-50.

The Engineers, on the other hand, relied on Jeffrey Yanes, Jemuel Namocatcat and Sean Paolo, to blast the Mapua Cardinals, 80-63, at the TIP gym in Quiapo.

Bautista and Doligon fired 14 points apiece while Montuano added 13 markers for the Icons, who posted their fifth win in six matches in Group B.

Yanes had 20 points, while Paolo and Namocatcat added 13 and 12 markers for the Engineers, who finished with a 5-3 slate in Group A of the tournament.

The Icons thus moved a win away from clinching a quarters berth and joining the University of the East Warriors and the Arellano University Chiefs.
