Vaseline Men vie in Maui triathlon

MANILA, Philippines - Vaseline Men will send a five-man Philippine squad to compete in the XTERRA Off-road Triathlon Global Championships, which fires off Oct. 28 in Maui, Hawaii.

Coach Noy Jopson and celebrity athletes Matteo Guidicelli and Drew Arellano will head the team with two more members to be selected via the search for the best Filipino triathletes in the Vaseline Men XTERRA Tri-Outs Camp: Race to Maui.

This marks the first time that Vaseline Men will be sending an official contingent to compete in one of the biggest triathlon series in the world.

The Vaseline Men XTERRA Tri-Outs Camp: Race to Maui is a three-day camp where the seven triathletes vie for the two coveted Hawaii slots. The training camp includes grueling Warm Up and Tri-Challenges to test and prepare the participants for the actual Maui competitions.

Clashing for berths are Takbo.ph’s Jinoe Gavan, chiropractor Martin Camara, Second Wind’s Hector Yuzon, ultramarathoner Mark Hernandez, Health Food president Raffy Zamora, swimbikerun.ph’s Carlos de Guzman, and Sutherland Global Services corporate training manager Redg Plopinio.

Fans are encouraged to show their support and take part in selecting the best athletes for the Vaseline Men Philippine team in a voting through www.youtube.com/vaselinemenph.

Those who will make the team will be announced on Oct. 18 with two lucky voters of the winning triathletes getting a chance to win P50,000 each.
