Marikina ready to host Palaro

MANILA, Philippines - Marikina Mayor Del de Guzman assured Department of Education (Dep-Ed) officials about the city’s preparedness and commitment to excellence if chosen as host for next year’s Palarong Pambansa.

“We know you won’t settle for second best. So we reiterate our commitment to excellence. We have a legacy to perpetuate,” said De Guzman.

Dep-Ed officials acknowledge Marikina’s strengths contributed to its being shortlisted. “Marikina is multi-awarded city that is cleanest in the metropolis. Its citizens are disciplined, it has unparalleled emergency services, a multi-awarded police force, and is a Galing Pook awardee for local governance.”

De Guzman revealed that more than 90 awards have been bestowed on his city whose pioneering programs continue to be replicated nationwide.

The city boasts of the most seasoned emergency unit that undergoes regular training, seminars, and equipment upgrade to keep it in tip-top shape for any eventualities.

The Marikina Police Force is acknowledged as the best in the East and can be relied upon to keep the Palarong Pambansa 2012 safe and secure. Thus, free of worries, athletes can now concentrate on performing at their best and winning.

The mayor describes Marikina as a clean and green hall-of-famer that maintains cleanliness as a way of life, “A virtual feast for your senses that one immediately notices the differences and distinction.”

De Guzman reiterates that only Marikina can offer visiting athletes the city itself as a classroom and laboratory for hurdling life’s challenges and emerging triumphant in life.

He appeals to Dep-Ed officials to choose Marikina since it has been decades since the Palaro was held in Metro Manila.
