FCVBA advances to Asean Invitational Final 4

-

MANILA, Philippines - The Filipino-Chinese Veterans Basketball Association (FCVBA) sent another team to the Final Four as its 50-years squad downed the host squad, 76-62, in the 19th ASEAN Veterans Invitational basketball tournament Tuesday at the Negri Recreational Club in Seremban, Malaysia.

Former San Miguel Beer star Elmer Reyes put on another vintage performance while Edward Tio and former La Salle center Kenneth Yap came through with big baskets in the last two quarters to anchor the team’s breakaway.

It was the team’s second straight win in the three-team Group A elims.

Reyes, who once played for the RP team under American coach Ron Jacobs, bucked early foul trouble as he fired 18 points.

Tio tallied 16 points, including a triple, which capped the team’s bristling 10-0 run.

FCVBA also swept its group elimination assignment in the 60-years division by downing the host squad, 66-41, behind the exploits of former La Salle ace Lim Eng Beng and University of Visayas’ Zotico Tan.
