Anton scores wins in tarmac, hillclimb races

MANILA, Philippines -  Multi-titled racing champion Carlos Anton of Mark Young-Yokohama Racing scored another huge feat with his victories in the third round of the 2010 Hillclimb Championship in La Union and the C! Magazine Tarmac Event at the Clark International Raceway.

Anton bested 45 other drivers from all over the country to solidify his grip of solo leadership in the Hillclimb series as he looks forward to his fourth straight crown with the big support of Mark Young, Yokohama, Hornitex flooring, Total Fuels and Lubricants, Autoshack, and Home Outlet.

“It was a hard race and the weather did not help any. The rains in the afternoon caused quite a few accidents and luckily nobody fell off the mountain,” Anton said after posting the best time.

In the C! Magazine tarmac event, Anton took the challenge teaming up with his nephew Pocholo against a tough field of 36 racers all using the new Ford Focus 1.8 liter sedans of the Tuason Racing School headed by JP Tuason.

He captured the individual championship over long time idol JoJo Silverio and third placer Vincent Florendo. However, he and his nephew Pocholo missed a podium finish against the nine teams that competed.

“It was a great fun being teamed up with Poch and we gave them a real run for their money, it was a fantastic result for us,” Anton said.
