Ongtiabok seals Ford-TRS win in GT finals

MANILA, Philippines - The Ford-Tuason Racing team scored another feat following the impressive performance of Bjorn Ongtiabok in the championship round of the 2009 Philippine Grand Touring Championship at the Clark International Speedway.

Ongtiabok bagged a runner-up and a third place finish for the Ford-Tuason Racing Team powered by Ford, Goodyear, Standard Insurance, Coke Zero, YellowCab Pizza, Toptul, Aguila Autoglass, Speedlab, Ultra Racing, Discovery Suites, Rota, Options Unlimited, OMP, Freemuff, Philippine Auto Club, C! Magazine and Business World.

He should have won after posting the fastest 20-lap total time of 25 minutes and 41.723 but a technical violation deprived him of the win.

He settld for runner-up honors in the GT 300 behind Emayrson Manaog and wound up third in the GT200 behind champion William Tan and runner-up John Asuncion.

“It was a great experience despite being a first timer in the event. And winning two trophies was a big morale boost, I had a blast,” said Ongtiabok.

TRS president JP Tuason was equally proud of Ongtiabok’s follow-up to his own big debut together with Stuart MacDonald and Dominic Samson.
