Puerto Princesa rolls out carpet for Asian motocross

Puerto Princesa City will provide backdrop for what is expected to be the biggest showdown for supremacy in the 2009 FIM Motocross Masters of Asia - Puerto Princesa International Motocross Grand Prix - set March 1 at the Sta. Monica International Racetrack in Puerto Princesa.

The event will be held as part of the foundation celebration of Puerto Princesa on March 4.

Puerto Princesa Mayor Edward Hagedorn has signed up with FIM Asian Motocross Commission president Macky Carapiet for the hosting of the event which will be supported by Oakley.

Hagedorn said the event would be a big tourism boost as it is in line with the city’s thrust to promote Puerto Princesa as the sports tourism capital of the Philippines.

Hagedorn and city administrator Agustin Rocamora are doing the spade work to make the event, which has 10 titles at stake, a big draw for the visiting foreign delegates.

Up for grabs is the 2009 Mayor Edward Hagedorn Cup, a sterling silver trophy from the city’s chief executive and his constituents.
