Go brothers pull off feats in Pagcor drag racing

Newcomer Ed Christopher Go of Blanche Racing fashioned out an impressive performance recently in the second leg of the 2008 Pagcor Drag Racing Championships-Northern Series at the newly built Clark International Speedway (CIS) Drag Strip in Clark Ecozone

Go, a 19-year-old student of Enduran College, stunned the veterans with his fast time of 10.6 seconds.

He’s the youngest son of San Mariano, Isabela Mayor Edgar Go who made it into the premiere Quick 8 with a 2.0 liter engine and a Honda Chop Top car body borrowed from teammate Sheldon Chua.

However, engine problems prevented him from pursuing his title quest, giving Cebuano David Lim a free ride to the quarterfinal round.

“It’s just unfortunate that engine problems spoiled my title bid but still I’m happy with the feat of making it into the Quick 8 division despite being basically a neophyte in this very competitive sport,” said Go.

“It’s a great experience and we’re looking forward to a much better stint in the next leg this January,” he added.

Older brother Christian Go, a Nursing student of New England College, went on with his record-breaking ways after shattering the Philippine All-Motor fastest time for the third time this year.

The 20-year-old Christian, also of Blanche Racing, again reset the RP All-Motor record to 10.514 seconds, shattering his own 10.65 seconds set in the kickoff leg.

He got into quarterfinals beating Stephen Esguerra of SE Racing but yielded to top favorite Vanni Garcia in their semifinal encounter.

Blanche Racing’s Jon Sarmiento made some adjustments and modification on Christian car’s performance.

Sarmiento is even planning to set up a new Honda CR-X race car for Christian using the same record-breaking engine to keep up with the competition and hopefully capture a Quick 8 victory up against topnotch veteran drag racers.
