‘ I’m at the age where i don’t have to get married’ - Rico

Mahigit tatlong dekada nang aktibo si Rico Blanco sa music industry. Naranasan na rin ng singer-songwriter na maging artista sa ilang serye at pelikula.

Ngayon ay magbibida sina Rico at Sue Ramirez sa Project Baby na mapapanood na sa mga sinehan simula June 3. “Well, it’s just one movie for now. But it is fascinating to be doing this now. After all these years of doing music and all the other stuff. This is so exciting. I cannot wait to watch the final product. I haven’t seen it yet. It took me a while to believe that I’d be in a movie poster like that. It’s directed by my idol growing up, Eric Quizon,” bungad sa amin ni Rico sa Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.

Hindi nakatanggi ang binata na tanggapin ang naturang pelikula mula sa Regal Entertainment dahil sa ilang mga konsiderasyon. “I was actually trying to force myself to leave my house, and do stuff other than just performing in shows. I was getting into hobbies. Kasi nasa bahay lang ako halos the last couple of years. I was trying to push myself to do other things. So, when this movie was offered, binasa ko. It’s written by Joey Reyes, Direk Joey. Nagustuhan ko ‘yung story and when I found out it was Sue that they were eyeing, nakita ko ‘yung chemistry na pwedeng mangyari. And I think ‘yung pinakamabilis na ‘yes’ when I found out na si direk Eric Quizon,” pagbabahagi niya.

Ayon kay Rico ay talagang maganda ang istorya ng kanilang bagong proyekto. Kailangan umanong pakaabangan ng mga manonood ang kahahantungan ng mga karakter nila ni Sue. “Ang talagang may project nito, ‘yung character ni Sue. She’s a modern woman, empowered, very successful. Kulang na lang for her, magkaroon ng baby. She wanted one already pero ayaw niya ng may partner. Ayaw niya ng relationship. Napapayag niya ako, I’m an artist, nasa tamang edad, wala pa ring anak and single din,” pagdedetalye ng singer-actor.

Matatandaang si Maris Racal ang huling naging kasintahan ni Rico sa tunay na buhay. Tumagal ng limang taon ang relasyon ng dalawa at nagkahiwalay noong 2024. Marami nang natutunan si Rico pagdating sa pagmamahal at pakikipagrelasyon. “I thought before that if you found someone who you really loved and they really loved you, too, that was enough. No, there’s other stuff like where you are in life, where the other person is in their life, and ‘yung timing no’n, ‘yung timetable, edad mo, edad niya. Siguro naïve ako dati or hindi ko alam, gano’n ba dapat? That’s what I’m trying to find out. Baka napunta rin ako sa masyadong opposite end, na hindi lang ‘yon lahat. That I need to relax that observation also,” makahulugang pahayag ng binata.

Limampu’t tatlong taong gulang na ngayon ang singer-songwriter at aktor. Kahit walang kasintahan ay umaasa si Rico na darating ang tamang panahon na siya ay magpapakasal.  “It’s been a joke lang with friends. Several time we’ve this talk also. Kapag ganitong edad ako, kapag ganitong edad ka wala pa rin, tayo na lang, ganyan, ‘di ba? But it’s always like parang a joke. Kung seryosohin, Tito Boy, siguro may hesitation ako. Siguro may hope pa rin ako na kaya ko pa rin siyang magawa na meron talaga akong partner. I’m more hopeful na kaya ko pa rin ‘yung way na more traditional. Still a possibility for me (na maikasal). When it’s supposed, I’ll still be with the right person. I’m at the age where I don’t have to get married. I understand for some people they have to get married. Right now, I don’t have to get married. So, if I’ll get married, it has to be right,” pagtatapat ni Rico. (Reports from JCC)
