CEBU, Philippines - Pnoy declares Sept. 12 an special non-working day in Siquijor town President Benigno Aquino III has declared September 12 (Thursday) as an special non-working day in Siquijor town, which will celebrate its 41st anniversary as the capital town of Siquijor province.

The declaration, issued through Proclamation No. 649, dated Sept. 4 and signed by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr., said it will provide the people of Siquijor town the full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.

Previously, Larena town was the capital of Siquijor province, and then in 1972, Siquijor town became the provincial capital by virtue of Proclamation No. 1075. — Contributed article
