MANILA, Philippines — Sisimulan ng Behrouz Elite Swimming Team (BEST) Philippines ang paghakot sa gintong medalya sa pagsambulat ng 58th Malaysia Invitational Age Group Swimming Championships ngayong araw sa National Aquatic Center Kuala Lumpur Sports Complex sa Bukit Jalil, Malaysia.

Pinaka unang masisilayan sa aksyon sina Immaculate Heart of Mary College-Parañaque ace tanker Mohammad Behrouz Mojdeh at Yugo Cabana na target masikwat ang unang gintong medalya ng Pilipinas sa torneo sa pagsabak nito sa boys’ 11-12 50m butterfly.

Lalarga rin si World Junior Championships semifinalist Micaela Jasmine Mojdeh ng Brent International School sa girls’ 15-17 400m freestyle gayundin si Filipino-British Ruben White na raratsada naman sa boys’ 18-25 50m butterfly.

“It’s always our goal to give our best to win medals for our country. We are all set to compete, we prepared hard for this. Apart from winning me­dals, we’re also looking forward to gaining ex­perience since a lot of good swimmers from the region are showing up here,” ani Micaela Jasmine.

Sunod na sasalang si Julia Ysabelle Basa ng Immaculate Heart of Mary College-Parañaque sa girls’ 15-17 400m freestyle gayundin sina Peter Dean, Samuel Caguimbal, Yuan Parto, Nathan Sason at Reiniele Trinidad sa boys’ 15-17 50m butterfly.

Ang torneo ay magsisilbing qualifying event para sa prestihiyosong World Junior Championships, Asian Age-Group Championships at Southeast Asian Age-Group Champioships.

Masisilayan naman sina Mikai Trinidad (girls’ 15-17 50m butterfly), Kimberly Estacio (girls’ 13-14 50m butterfly), Sierdon Caguimbal (boys’ 18-25 50m butterfly), Ashby Canlas (boys’ 15-17 100m breaststroke) at Lleyton Rara (boys’ 15-17 400m freestyle) sa kani-kanyang events.

Sumalang agad sa ensayo ang mga bagitong tankers kahapon sa National Aquatic Center kung saan tinutukan ni head coach Virgie De Luna ang training ng mga ito.

“We hope and pray for time improvements for the and also hopefully we can bring medals back home,” ani PH BEST team manager Joan Mojdeh.
