MANILA, Philippines — Hindi basta-basta ma-kakalapit ang Barangay Ginebra sa inaasam na PBA Finals.

Tiniyak ito ng Meralco Bolts matapos ang 95-77 panalo kontra sa Gin Kings sa Game Two ng kanilang semifinals series sa 2020 PBA Philippine Cup kahapon sa Angeles University Foundation Gym sa Angeles, Pampanga.

Itinabla ng Meralco sa 1-1 ang kanilang best-of-five semis duel ng Ginebra, inangkin ang 96-79 panalo sa Game One.

“The players executed very, very well. Offensively, the teamwork was there unlike in Game One,” wika ni Bolts’ head coach Norman Black. “We had balance scoring. A lot of guys scored well today, particularly Chris Newsome, Allein Maliksi and Bong Quinto.”

Inaasahang babangon ang Gin Kings sa Game Three bukas para maagaw ang 2-1 bentahe sa serye.

Kumolekta si guard Chris Newsome ng 16 points, 6 assists at 4 rebounds at nagdagdag sina Allein Maliksi, Bong Quinto, Cliff Hodge, Raymond Almazan at Baser Amer ng tig-14, 12, 11 at 10 markers, ayon sa pagkakasunod.

Binura ng Bolts ang 13-point lead, 55-42 ng Gin Kings sa third quarter para ilista ang kanilang 18-point advantage, 85-67, sa 5:14 minuto ng fourth period tampok ang three-point play ni Newsome.

Pinalobo pa ito ng Meralco sa 91-70 sa basket ni Newsome sa 2:33 minuto ng bakbakan na hindi na napaliit ng Ginebra.

Binanderahan ni 6- foot-8 Japeth Aguilar ang Gin Kings sa kanyang 17 points, 8 boards at 2 assists.

Habang sinusulat ang balitang ito, kasaluku-yang naglalaban ang Phoenix Super LPG at ang Talk N Text na hangad ang 2-0 bentahe sa kanilang sari­ling serye.
