Lalaki ang budget ng PSC

MANILA, Philippines – Lalaki na ang budget ng Philippine Sports Commission ngayong taon mula sa Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation.

Ang PAGCOR ay isang GOCC (government owned ang controlled corporation) at sa ilalim ng batas ito ay required na mag-donate ng bahagi ng kanilang kita sa PSC kada-buwan.

Sa mga nagdaang taon. ang monthly remittance mula sa Pagcor ay umaabot ng P40-P50 million kada-buwan na kumakatawan ng National Sports Development Fund (NSDF).

Ginagamit ito para suportahan ang  50 national sports associations (NSA) at daang-daang national athletes at coaches sa kanilang  training expenses, allowances at suweldo.

Ang ibang bahagi ng budget ng PSC ay nanggagaling sa Congress  mula sa General Appropriations Act (GAA) na ginagamit naman sa grassroots programs, infrastructure at pasuweldo sa mga PSC officials at employees.

Ang budget mula sa congress ay ‘di lumalagpas sa P200 million kada-taon pero aabot na sa P80 million kada-taon ang kontribusyon ng PAGCOR sa PSC.

“We welcome the increase,” sabi ni Garcia.  “Just because we have P25 million or P30 million more we have to spend them right away. Hindi naman natin gagas-tusin ‘yan agad.”

Ayon kay Garcia, ipagpapatuloy niya ang mga plano at programa para sa  mga NSAs sa ilalim ng original budget para sa 2015.

“But for 2016, we will review the allowances of our athletes and coaches. We’re thinking of giving them bigger allowances,” ani Garcia. “We are really thankful to Pagcor for the increase. We also plan to increase the number of athletes in our developmental pool.”
