Mga bagitong gold medalist sa PNG irerekomenda ng PSC sa mga NSAs

MANILA, Philippines - Irerekomenda ng Philippine Sports Commission sa mga National Sports Associations ang mga batang atletang kumuha ng gintong medalya sa katatapos na 2013 PSC-POC National Games.

Ang mga bagitong atleta ay maaaring ibilang ng NSAs sa kanilang mga training pool na siyang pinagkukunan ng mga pambato para sa mga international competitions kagaya ng darating na 2013 Southeast Asian Games sa Myanmar sa Disyembre.

 Ilan sa mga ito ay sina Ronald Oranza at Rustom Lim ng LBC-MVP Sports Foundation sa cycling, ang 13-anyos na si Cheska Centeno ng Zamboanga City sa billiards at ang 18-anyos na si Ian Chipeco sa archery.

“If they won and beat the National teams, they are qualified for inclusion,” wika kahapon ni PSC chairman Richie Garcia. “If the National athletes did not participate, I guess we have to remove them.”

Inangkin nina Oranza at Lim ang mga ginto sa individual time trial at road race sa cycling na idinaos sa Tarlac City.

Dalawang beses namang ginulat ni Centeno si SEAG gold medalist Rubilen Amit bago yumukod kay SEAG champion Iris Ranola sa finals ng 10-ball event, habang tatlong ginto ang sinikwat ni Chipeco sa compound events ng archery.

Ang mga National athletes na natalo sa kani-kanilang mga events sa 2013 National Games ay babawasan ng monthly allowance.

“Adjustments in their allowances will be made, if they ranked lower, if they didn’t perform as they were expected to perform, they will have the risk of losing financial support from the PSC,” sabi ni Garcia.

Isa sa maaaring babaaan ng monthly allowance ay si long distance running champion Eduardo Buenavista na natalo kay Rafael Poliquit sa 10,000-meter run.

Inaasahan namang papatawan ng kaparusahan ang mga miyembro ng National team na hindi lumahok sa naturang sports event na ginagawang sukatan ng PSC ukol sa kahandaan ng mga National athletes.

“There will definitely be corresponding sanctions or disciplinary actions that we will take to make sure that they understand what we meant by saying that eve-rybody must compete in the PNG,” wika ni Garcia.

Ilan sa mga bigating National athletes na hindi lumahok sa National Games ay sina Olympic Games campaigner Marestella Torres at Rene Herrera sa athletics.

 Sina Torres at Herrera ay sinasabing may injury, ngunit kinakailangang magbigay ng medical certificate sa sports commission.

 â€œOf course, those who are sick or not physically here in the Philippines because they are training abroad, they are excused. But for those who were around but just did not participate, then we will also refuse to include them in the list as National player,” wika ni Garcia.
