“Cinema is the same all over the world. Other films outside of Star Cinema are failing because of unknown cast and very little film marketing. When someone tells you about a film, the first 2 questions you ask are “who’s in it” and “what’s it about”. The hardest part in this equation is marketing. Usually marketing is treated as an afterthought when it should be 30-40% of a film’s budget.

“Bankable cast + good script/story + director + marketing = box office success. “ALL of these elements must be in the movie. You take out one and you lessen the chances of optimizing your movie’s potential for commercial success. Congratulations Alone Together Team! Your success is the local film industry’s success. They’re just waiting for the right film that’s worth their hard earned money. But let’s not be complacent. Our audience deserves nothing less than the BEST. Let’s prove to them that it’s still worth it to invest on Filipino films,” ang analysis/statement ni Chair Liza na posted sa kanyang FB account.

Pero sinagot ‘yun ni Direk Erik. Ito ang bahagi ng sagot niya : “The tone of this post by our FDCP chair puts the blame on everyone else who couldn’t make a film without a huge marketing machinery backing them and some big saleable stars. If this is true then we don’t need any more development in cinema. We just either make a movie with a bankable star or if we can’t get one, retire or teach.

“The past months I swore to be quiet in social media and be positive no matter how crazy this country has become. But this is just unacceptable and must not be allowed to pass.”
