Showbiz still in the heart of Angelica

MANILA, Philippines - Because of her dedication to her work as public servant being the board member of Laguna, Angelica Jones (real name Angelica Jones Alarve) is now getting to be known as “Laguna’s angel of public service.” The former actress/TV host and commercial model was also recently recognized as one of the Most Inspiring Women in Public Service 2014.

In the last two months, Angelica organized free check-up for eye cataract clinics in cooperation with JCI Calamba and some government officials; donated eyeglasses, wheelchairs and medicines, turned over books to barangay and school libraries and worked for the granting of college scholarships for students of Laguna, including tie-ups with TESDA.

To get in touch with her constituents, Angelica holds a “People’s Day” every Monday. She also receives people in need of assistance anytime in her office. She is the chairperson of the committees on women, family, social welfare and community development as well as tourism, culture and arts, and livelihood and cooperatives. She is also the adopted daughter of Sultan Kiram of the sultanate of Borneo.

Angelica is open to showbiz projects, whether on TV or in the movies, for as long as they won’t get in the way in her work for the people of Laguna.

Angelica is currently in Macau to give moral support to boxing champ Manny Pacquiao. But she’ll be back in time for the Provincial Board Members League of the Philippines’ congress on Nov. 27.
