MANILA, Philippines — Nagpaabot ng kanilang pakikiramay ang Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) sa mga naulila ng isang football player na dating naglaro para sa FEU, habang ipinapangako ang imbestigasyon sa nasabing insidente.
Linggo nang masawi si Absalon, 21-anyos, kasama ang pinsang si Nolven matapos masabugan ng pinaghihinalaang "landmine" habang nagbibisikleta sa Masbate City. Sugatan din sa insidente ang anak ni Nolven na si Chrisbin Daniel.

Una nang sinabi ng Police Regional Office 5 sa ulat ng state-run Philippine News Agency na posibleng ang NPA ang nagtanim ng mga nasabing pasabog. Gayunpaman, hindi pa talaga sarado ang pagsisiyasat sa insidente.
PNP manhunt laban sa salarin
Kaugnay ng pangyayari, ipinag-utos na ni Philippine National Police chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar ang "pursuit operations" laban sa mga miyembro ng NPA na pinaghihinalaang nagsagawa ng Masbate City bombing.
"I am directing all police personnel, particularly in NPA-infested areas, to be on high alert and undertake target hardening measures for possible future attacks by these communist terrorists," ani Eleazar kanina sa isang pahayag.
"I am directing the local police to coordinate with the military and launch manhunt operations against the suspects. Hindi po kami titigil hangga’t hindi nabibigyan ng hustisya ang mga inosenteng nasawi at nasugatan sa pagsabog na ito."
Dagdag pa ng PNP chief, sayang lalo na't malayo pa raw sana ang maaabot ng atletang namatay kung hindi nasawi dahil sa insidente.
Ipinag-uutos din ngayon ni Sen. Richard Gordon na agad maparusahan ang mga nasa likod ng pagkamatay nina Keith, na dati nang hinirang bilang MVP noong UAAP season 78.
Landmines vs command detonated explosives
Karaniwang sumasabog ang mga landmine basta't matapakan, mapulot o madaanan. Dahil diyan, ibinalangkas ang "Ottawa Treaty" para i-ban ang paggamit ng anti-personnel landmines.
Kasama ang Pilipinas sa 164 bansang lumagda sa nasabing tratado. Gayunpaman, hindi nakapirma ang 32 United Nation states diyan, kasama ang Estados Unidos, Tsina at Rusya.
Sa kabila nito, command-detonated explosives ang ginagamit ng NPA, bagay na sumasabog lang kapag manual na dinetonate ng tao. Hindi ito sasabog basta-basta kahit madaanan pa.
Hindi sakop ng tratado sa landmine ban ang mga mixed mines gaya ng anti-tank mines, remote-controlled claymore mines, anti-handling devices at iba pang "static" explosive devices.
"The NPA does not use banned weapons in waging war. The NPA employs command-detonated explosives that are manually activated only in the presence of legitimate military targets. These weapons do not explode accidentally and do not indiscriminately kill or hurt civilians," ani Valbuena noong Marso.
"The NPA emplaces these weapons only in the field of battle and are removed when the NPA unit leaves the area. Furthermore, the NPA uses just enough explosive force proportionate to the size and strength of its military target."
