MANILA, Philippines — Kinumpirma na rin ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) ngayong Lunes ang pagkakapaslang kina Marawi siege leaders Isnilon Hapilon at Omar Maute.
“This day marks the triumph of good over evil – the day when the labor and sacrifices of your security forces, soldiers, airmen, sailors, marines, policemen and coast guard personnel finally paid off,” pahayag ni AFP chief Eduardo Año.
“I am confirming that the taunted emir of ISIS in the Philippines and Abu Sayyaf leader Isnilon Hapilon and the last of the dreaded brothers Omar Cayam are both dead,” dagdag niya.

Tiniyak naman ni Año na bibigyan ng disenteng libing ang dalawa na alinsunod sa nakagawian ng mga Muslim. Tumanggi naman ang hepe na idetalye kung saan ililibing ang dalawa.
“We will not disclose the place because we don’t want this to be a symbol for martyrdom or this will be used by their sympathizers and their supporters to advance their interests,” sabi ni Año.
Napatay ang dalawa habang tinatakasan ang tumitinding pwersa ng militar kung saan tinamaan sa dibdib si Hapilon, habang sa ulo naman si Maute.
