MANILA, Philippines - Maaaring mamili si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ng bagong vice-president sakaling mapatalsik si Vice President Leni Robredo sa pamamagitan ng impeachment.
Ito ang sinabi kahapon ni Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel na aminado na kabilang siya sa mahigit na 300 mambabatas na puwedeng pagpilian ng Pangulo.
“Sa Constitution natin if there’s a vacancy in the VP, the president chooses from among members of Congress. Subject to confirmation by Congress. Kasama rin ako sa choices but there will be 300 plus choices.
Pero sa pagkakaintindi rin umano ni Pimentel, tuloy pa rin ang pagdinig sa electoral protest ni dating Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos.
“Sa pagkakaintindi ko dapat tuloy because the protest case is ang purpose noon is to determine who really won in the last VP elections hence…theoretical ito wag magtatampo ang kinakabahan diyan, wag magtatampo dahil theoretical discussion ito as a law professor discussing the Constitution. If there’s a vacancy in the VP because of impeachment, the successor, chosen by the president from members of Congress, holds the post subject to the outcome of the election protest. Yun po understanding ko diyan,” paliwanag ni Pimentel.
Wika rin ni Pimentel na matatanggal din sa puwesto ang pipiliing bise ng Pangulo kung mapapatunayan na iba ang totoong nanalo noong nakaraang halalan.
“Successor lang naman siya of the impeached VP whose electoral victory is under protest,” ani Pimentel.
