Hindi pa huli ang lahat upang maiwasan ang potensiyal na pag-atake ng mapanganib na brain attack o stroke. Ang sakit sa puso at stroke ay parehong puwedeng maranasan dahil nasa linya ng genes o lahi. Pero malaki ang magagawang maiwasan ito kung magkakaroon ng healthy na lifestyle na puwedeng mapigilan ang 80% ng atake at maging stroke-free. Tandaan ang mga sumusunod na tips:

1. Alamin at kontrolin ang inyong blood pressure, blood sugar, at cholesterol.

2. Huwag manigarilyo. Tigilan na ito. Uminom ng alcohol in moderation.

3. Magbawas ng timbang kung kinakailangan.

4. Maging aktibo na galaw-galaw din kapag may time.

5. Kilalanin at i-manage ang atrial fibrillation.

6. Alamin ang warning signs ng stroke. Maging ag­resibo kung paano bigyang lunas agad ang transient ischemic attack (TIA o mild-stroke).

7. Magbagong buhay sa pagkakaroon ng healthy diet na low in sodium at rich in potassium.
