Yen hindi nag-expect na magkaka-career
Until she landed the role she’s currently playing in the high-rating pre-evening series, Pure Love, nobody know much about Yen Santos, except that isa siyang dating housemate ni Kuya sa Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) Teen Clash.
This was in 2010.
“This was four years ago,” (real name: Lilieyen Santos) recalled. “I was only 14.”
“All of these 16 years of my life, sa aming bayan lang sa Nueva Ecija ako nakatira.
“Kaya, first time ko ring tumira sa isang bahay na ‘di ko kamag-anak ang kasama. I found that challenging. And, of course, thrilling din.”
When she didn’t emerge winner, feel ni Yen, katapusan na rin ng kanyang pangarap na makapasok sa showbiz. Until Pure Love came along.
“Di ko inisip na kakayanin ko ang role ko bilang alter ego ng role na ginagampanan ni Alex (Gonzaga), na supposedly nag-aagaw buhay at naghihintay ng tatlong taong hindi niya kamag-anak na umiyak, para muling mabuhay.
“I’m glad, though, na inalalayan ako nang husto ni Direk Veronica (Velasco).
“Sabi niya sa akin, ito ang simula ng kung anumang pangarap ko, nang pasukin ko ang showbiz,” dugtong pa ni Yen.
Pure Love is a Koreanovela remake ng 49 Days. Also in the series are Arjo Atayde, Joseph Marco, and Matt Evans.

Dementia ni Direk Perci hindi mukhang indie, Nora nagpakita na naman ng galing
Regal Films no less, will release the first directorial job of former TV5 entertainment and creative head, Perci Intalan.
An indie film, which was partly shot in Bulacan and Batanes, is titled Dementia and stars Nora Aunor in the lead role. A horror-suspense drama, Dementia has Guy playing a woman who is battling with dementia at an early age.
Dementia, in the dictionary, ay sinasabing isang disease which severely impairs one’s memory and reasoning ability.
Her family had no choice na dalhin siya uli sa kanilang ancestral home, with a niece (played by Jasmine Curtis) assigned to look after her.
It is during Guy’s supposed stay in her ancestral home that several strange occurrences happened.
“When I saw the movie,” ani Mother Lily, “hindi pumasok sa isip ko na isang indie film ang Dementia.
“Ang ganda ng pagkadirek ni Perci. Not to say, the performance ni Guy as Mara.
“Kaya, ‘di ako nagdalawang-isip na i-offer ang pagdirek kay Perci sa isa sa tatlong episode ng aking Metro Manila Filmfest entry (MMFF) this year, Shake Rattle and Roll XV.
“Mukha kasing at home si Perci sa pagdirek ng horror-suspense flick,” susog pa ni Mother Lily.
Dementia will have a September 24 playdate.
