PH, US nagkasundo sa 4 na bagong EDCA sites

MANILA, Philippines — Apat na bagong lugar sa strategic areas sa bansa kung saan mas mapapalakas nito ang implementasyon ng Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) ang pinagkasunduan ng Pilipinas at Estados Unidos.

Ayon sa Department of National Defense (DND), ang mga bagong lokasyon na ito ng EDCA ay magbibigay ng pagkakataon na mas mapabilis ang suporta sa mga humanitarian at climate-related disasters sa Pilipinas.

“Today, the Philippines and the United States are proud to announce their plans to accelerate the full implementation of the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) with the full agreement to designate four (4) new Agreed Locations in strategic areas of the country and the substantial completion of the projects in the existing five Agreed Locations,” pahayag ng DND.

Tututok din ang dalawang bansa sa pagbuo ng mga plano at investments para sa bago at nagpapatuloy na mga EDCA location.

Sa ngayon, naglaan ang Estados Unidos ng mahigit $82 million para sa infrastructure investments sa limang sites sa ilalim ng EDCA.

Ang pahayag na ito ng DND ay inilabas kasabay ng pagbisita ni US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin sa Pilipinas.
