May patutunayan si Magsayo

MANILA, Philippines — Patutunayan ni undefeated Pinoy fighter Mark Magsayo ang bagsik ng isang Pinoy kay reigning World Boxing Council (WBC) featherweight champion Gary Russell sa kanilang nakatakdang salpukan sa Enero 22 (Enero 23 sa Manila) sa Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa sa Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Nasa matinding paghahanda si Magsayo kasama si Hall of Famer Freddie Roach sa Wild Card Gym sa Hollywood, California dahil desidido itong agawin ang world title ni Russell.

Nais ipatikim ni Magsayo ang bagsik at lakas ng isang Pinoy na hindi pa nararanasan ni Russell sa kaniyang mga nakalipas na laban.

“I don’t think Gary has faced anyone since he became champion that has the skills that I have. I’m going to go in there to show him something he’s never seen before and we’ll see how he reacts,” ani Magsayo.

Sa buong boxing career ni Russell, ito pa lamang ang unang pagkakataon na makakasagupa nito ang isang Pinoy fighter.

Hindi naman lingid sa kaalaman ni Russell na kilala ang Pilipinas sa may mahuhusay na boksingero sa mundo gaya nina eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao at four-division world champion Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire.

“I’m going to show the world that I’m the best at this weight. This is the fight that I’ve wanted for a long time. I’ve been waiting patiently for my chance and I’m ready to do my best,” ani Magsayo.
