4 na ka-Barangay ang nagtagumpay

MANILA, Philippines — Apat na Barangay Ginebra players ang nagawaran ng karangalan sa idinaos na PBA Special Awards Night kamakalawa ng gabi habang pinatunayan ni Aaron Black na hindi nagkamali ang Meralco sa pagpili sa kanya sa Rookie Draft.

“As far as awards, your teammates are going to put you in a position to win, so it’s just as much as their award as yours,” sabi ng 33-anyos na Fil-Am guard. “So shout out to all my teammates. That’s it, it’s their award, too.”

Umupo sa No. 6 sa statistical race, tinalo ni Pringle para sa BPC trophy sina Ray Ray Parks, Jr. at RR Pogoy ng TNT Tropang Giga, Matthew Wright at Calvin Abueva ng Phoenix at CJ Perez ng Terrafirma.

Kumolekta si Pringle ng kabuuang 1,640 points-- 641 mula sa statistics, 632 sa media votes, 67 sa players’ votes at 300 sa PBA votes.  Sumegunda si Wright sa kanyang nahakot na 1,578 points kasunod sina Pogoy (958 points), Parks (876 points), Abueva (779 points) at Perez (668 points).

Ito ang kauna-una-hang BPC award ni Pringle na nakuha ng Ginebra noong 2019 matapos ang trade sa NorthPort.

Napasama rin si Pringle sa Outstanding/Elite Five na binubuo nina Wright, Abueva, Ginebra forward Japeth Aguilar at TNT center Poy Erram.

Nasorpresa naman si Gin Kings center Prince Caperal sa natanggap na Most Improved Player award at napasakamay ni guard Scottie Thompson ang Samboy Lim Sportsmanship award.

Samantala, si Black, anak ni coach Norman ng Meralco ang naging unang lowest draft pick na nanalo ng PBA top rookie award na magiging inspirasyon nito para lalo pang magsumikap na matulungan ang Meralco sa Season 46.
